We are very pleased to report that Young Imaginations has had another successful year in its mission of presenting arts-in-education classes in Northern California schools. While the US economy continues to regain ground lost in the Great Recession, arts-in-education is still struggling to recover lost territory. Despite this problem, Young Imaginations brought music and dance to over 4,000 children in 25 schools and helped demonstrate the need to reinstate the arts as part of a core curriculum.

Thanks to all of you who have helped Young Imaginations complete 27 years as a non-profit arts education agency. Over the past ten years YI has raised over $930,000 from foundations and grants and almost $350,000 from individual donations, while many other non-profits have curtailed operations or ceased to exist altogether.

To enable Young Imaginations to continue to bring multicultural music and dance programs to approximately twenty schools in the Bay Area and rural locations to the north, we must continue with determined fundraising and cost management efforts. Randall K. Wong, Doctor of Musical Arts, will lead the agency as we move into FY 2014-2015. He will serve as our new Administrative Director, bringing fresh ideas and energy to school programming and curricula, while also helping turn the corner on the financial front as we move forward into the 28th uninterrupted year of educational leadership through Young Imaginations.

We must never forget that our children are the future. The arts are vital to the education of all children. We maintain our dedication to a tradition of excellence and a commitment to equity in access to arts education for the children of Northern California.

All of us at Young Imaginations express a big thanks to all who have generously supported our work over these past years and ask that you continue with your donations of money and your volunteer commitments. Do spread the good word amongst your friends and colleagues.
